Abstract

1,124,103. Dispensing liquids by gaseous pressure. E.H. GREEN. Sept. 7, 1965 [Oct. 13, 1964], No. 38258/65. Heading F1R. A discharge valve for a pressurized dispensing container comprises a spring-loaded valve member 58 having a face 62 which seals against a gasket 50 when the valve is closed, and is moved away from gasket 50 when a stem 61 is depressed to open the valve, the rate of discharge being determined by the height of a slot 74, 88 at the base of the valve stem. In another embodiment, Fig. 9, (not shown), face 62 is formed as a step at the base of the valve stem, and the slot 88 extends above the face so as to be closed directly by gasket 50. In another embodiment, Fig. 10, (not shown), the top of the slot is level with the bottom of the groove 64 between face 62 and the valve stem, and the radial depth of the slot determines the rate of discharge. The valve components may be moulded of plastics, plug 94 being fitted after the formation of groove 74.
