Abstract

1,123,439. Cleaning floors, rugs, walls &c. HOOVER Ltd. 20 Dec., 1965 [28 Dec., 1964], No. 53841/65. Heading A4F. [Also in Division F1] A shampooing and scrubbing apparatus comprises a scrubbing brush driven by a motor which also operates a foam generator and a pump for delivering to the generator liquid from a receptacle to which the apparatus is adapted to be connected, and control means for rendering the pump operative or inoperative as required. The pump comprises a rotor 38 carrying rollers 39, 40, 41, which, during the operation of the pump, successively compress a portion of the liquid supply tube 3 (which is of rubber or plastics material) against a pressure member 46 to impel liquid through the tube 3. To render the pump inoperative a shaft 53 is turned manually to operate a lever 52 connected to the member 46 to turn the latter away from the rotor 38 about a pivot 47 against the action of a spring 48. As described in Specification 1,123,438 the pump is driven by disengageable teeth on the rotor 38 and the scrubbing brush, respectively. The foam generator comprises a sponge member which is alternately compressed and expanded by a rotary wobble plate as described in Specification 1,123,440.
