Abstract

1, 123, 213. Determining stress relaxation. DISTILLERS CO. Ltd. July 28, 1966 [Sept. 30, 1965], No. 41583/65. Heading G1S. In apparatus for estimating stress relaxation the sample 3 is clamped between clamps 1, 2, clamp 2 being supported on a pivoted bar 4 and tensioned by a spring 6 adjustable by a net 7. In use, the spring is tensioned and stress applied to the specimen 3 causing movement of a bar 17 to activate a photo-cell 15 controlling operation of a motor 9. The motor 9 causes the net 7 to be moved up the rod 8 and decreases the tension applied to the bar. Subsequently the motor is stopped under the control of photo-cell 10.
