Abstract

1,123,201. Advancing mine roof supports. GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA. 18 Aug., 1965 [20 Aug., 1964], No. 35451/65. Heading E1E. A multiple frame structure for a self-advancing roof support 'system comprises three parallel support frames 1, the middle one being connected by springs 5 to a double-armed stub member 8 each end of which is connected to a respective ram cylinder 2 associated with a respective outer support frame 1, connected (by a stub member 7) to its associated ram cylinder 2 by springs 5. The advance frame may be made to follow the coal face automatically by shifting under a continuous force or in steps under the control of a sensing device extending from the frame to contact with the coal face and to trigger the shifting of the frame.
