Abstract

Compositions comprise a stabilized polyformaldehyde and 1 to 15% of a softener comprising 1,1,1-trimethylol propane. In the examples, a polyformaldehyde, stabilized by esterification using acetic anhydride, is compounded with 1,11 - bis(2 - oxy - 3 - t - butyl - 5 - methyl - phenyl)-butane, a polyamide of caprolactam, hexamethylene diammonium adipimate, and hexamethylene ammonium sebacinate, and trimethylol propane in aqueous ethanol or, for comparison, glycerol in aqueous ethanol.
