Abstract

[Also in Division E2] A cable having a core 19 and a resilient cover 18 is mounted in a pair of clamping members 11, 15 which grip an increased diameter portion 20 of the cable produced by an annular insert (14), (Fig. 1, not shown), pushed between the core and the cover. The member 11 may be a wall of a container into which the cable is sealed by this method, or the cable may be supported between two clamping plates mounted on the outside of the container. The annular insert may be metallic and its cross-section may be semi-circular or square. The cover of the cable may be of P.V.C. or rubber.
