Abstract

A float-operated valve has a long arm 12 carrying a float 11 and a short arm 14 connected to the valve 15. An over-centre device in the form of a second float 18, or a weight, is connected to the float arm by a lost motion connection so that the device opposes closing of the valve until it passes over the centre and then assists the closing action.
