Abstract
1,119,645. Rotary-scythe mowers. BAMFORDS Ltd. 1 Dec., 1966 [3 Dec., 1965], No. 51331/65. Heading A1F. [Also in Division F2] In a rotary-scythe mower, of the kind having a frame 10 projecting laterally from, and supported by, a tractor 9, and having a series of drums 11 carrying rotaryscythe cutters 12 pendant therefrom, a safety-guard 13 surrounds the entire frame at a level above the rotary cutters the outermost end-part 14 of the frame being pivotally displaceable towards the tractor by means operable from the driver's seat, to facilitate cutting close to a hedge or wall, and being returnable automatically except when so displaced. As shown, the raising means comprises a pull-cord 20, the guard-portion 14 being either returned by gravity or by a spring. Locking members are provided adjacent to the pivot so that the portion 14 cannot inadvertently be raised and can only be raised after the locking members have been released manually. The locking members are selflocking on return of the part 14 to its normal position.
