Abstract
1,119,488. Refrigerating. VILTER MFG. CORP. 16 Nov., 1966, No. 51277/66. Heading F4H. [Also in Division F1] The pistons 48 of a refrigerant compressor are reciprocated in cylinders 46 cooled by intermixed liquid and gaseous refrigerant supplied through a gas suction pipe 22 and a liquid line 69 to a casing 44 surrounding the cylinders, the moving parts of the compressor being cooled by liquid refrigerant splashed from a sump 26 by scoops 67. After compression in the cylinders 46 the gaseous refrigerant flows through a discharge chamber 66 and a pipe 4 to a watercooled condenser 6 supplying liquid refrigerant to a chamber 12 communicating through a float controlled valve 14 with an evaporator 16 used for cooling water or brine in a tube 18. The chamber 12 also delivers liquid refrigerant through a line 28 to a chamber 68 for passage therefrom through a float valve 30 to the sump 26 and through the line 69 to the suction pipe 22. Gas enters the cylinders 46 through automatic inlet valves 54 in the pistons 48 and leaves the cylinders through automatic outlet valves 62.
