Abstract

1,119,415. Coating apparatus. WIX OF LONDON Ltd. 27 July, 1966 [4 Aug., 1965], No. 33404/65. Heading B2L. [Also in Division D1] A device for applying to surfaces, materials which will melt under heat, comprises an applicabor roller which forms the secondary of a transformer and dips into a trough of the material. As shown, a driven applicator wheel 3 rotates on a bush 1 of non-magnetic and electrically non-conductive material and has its lower portion dipping into a trough 4 containing material to be applied to sheet S. A core 10 of magnetic material and in the form of a closed loop passes axially through the bush I and a primary transformer winding 11 is wound on the core 10 in suitable position. In use a suitable electric supply is connected to the winding 11, a high current of low voltage is produced in wheel 3 which causes it to heat up sufficiently to melt material in trough 4 and apply it to sheet S. The trough 4 may also be independently heated.
