In a capsule device having a cavity 4, 5 partly filled with liquid, such as mercury a solid body 16 is provided in the cavity and has a coefficient of expansion less than that of the capsule body 1, 2 so that with any variation in temperature the liquid volume remains practically constant due to the coefficient of expansion differences between the liquid and the cavity. The capsule body 1, 2 may be of steel and the solid body 16 of graphite.
