Abstract

1,117,288. Motor vehicle control pedals. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 28 Nov., 1966 [20 Dec., 1965], No. 53113/66. Headings B7E and B7H. A structural member 16 has pins 28, 30 pivotally mounting a support assembly 22 comprising side members 24, 26 pivotally supporting a brake pedal 36 and pads 40, 56 depending from a pin 38. The part 16 has a portion 76 providing ratchet teeth 78 engageable by a pawl 80 carried by the side member 24. By operating the pawl the member 24 and thus the whole assembly 22 mounting the control pedals may be swung as a unit about the pins 28, 30 to vary the positions of the pedals relative to the driver. A brake pedal release lever 46 and pad 49 is pivoted to the brake lever 36 at 48 and is provided with an extension 50 which must be disengaged from a bracket 52 welded to the support side member 26 before the pedal 36 may be operated. A pushrod 42 leading to a master cylinder is linked at 44 .to the brake 36, the pins 28, 30 and 44 being substantially in line. The support 26 in Fig. 2, carries an extension 60 which supports an accelerator pedal and linkage 62 connected by a U-shaped wire link 70 to linkage 68, the portion 72 of the link being also substantially in line with the pins 28 and 30. A clutch pedal may also be mounted on the support 22.
