Abstract

A moulding composition comprises polyethylene terephthalate, 0.01-5% by wt. (based on the polymer) of a liquid which promotes crystallization and 0.001-0.5% by wt. (based on the polymer) of an undissolved solid substance having an average particle size of less than 3 microns; the composition having a relative viscosity of at least 1.70 (measured in 1% by wt. solution in metacresol). The crystallization promoting liquid may be an aromatic, aliphatic or mixed ketone or amine, a halogenated alkane, dioxan, acrylonitrile, nitromethane, nitroethane, tetrahydronaphthalene or benzyl alcohol. The solid substance may be an oxide of a metal having an atomic number less than 23, a metal powder, a salt of an alkaline earth metal, graphite, glass powder, calcined gypsum or talc.
