Abstract

1,116,968. Auto-change mechanism. WARWICK ELECTRONICS Inc. 12 Jan., 1966 [12 Jan., 1965], No. 1533/66. Heading G5R. Arrangement for tripping an automatic change mechanism for a record player when the playing of a record is completed, comprises a toothed cam-wheel 20, which drives the change mechanism during one revolution and includes a toothed portion 22 adjacent a pinion 13 rotating with the turntable 11, a striker 14 rotating with the pinion, a pawl 23 pivotally mounted at 24 on the cam-wheel and hook connected to the upper of a pair of frictionallycoupled, relatively-movable link plates 28, 31 which are guided to move in the direction of their length and a link 41 connected to a member which moves with the tone arm and acts on the lower link member 28. Slow inward movement of the tone arm, towards the end of a record, moves the pawl via the link mechanism into contact with the striker. The striker taps the pawl back in the opposite direction, the movement being taken up by the frictionally coupled members, until the tone arm moves into the run out groove when the increased inward movement of the arm advances the cam into positive engagement with the striker and the cam plate is rotated to bring its teeth into drive engagement with the pinion. The apparatus is reset by engagement of a lug 43 with a reset cam 44 mounted on the motor board as the cam-wheel rotates.
