Abstract

1,116,941. Protective arrangements. SPERRY RAND Ltd. 6 July, 1965 [19 May, 1964], No. 20558/64. Heading H2K. In a protective arrangement for a D.C. load comprising one or more transistors, a fuse 15 is connected in series with the load 11 and a diode 14 is connected in parallel with the load, the diode being non-conducting so long as the voltage and polarity of the D.C. supply 12 are correct. Should the supply be connected so that the polarity is wrong, then the diode 14 conducts and blows the fuse 15. The diode 14 may be a Zener diode which breaks down in the event of overvoltage.
