Abstract

Compounds of the general formula (I) <FORM:1116918/C2/1> (wherein R and R1 each represent a halogen atom or a nitro, trifluoromethyl or lower alkyl group, R2 represents a halogen atom, R3 represents a lower alkyl group and the broken lines denote optional substitutents) and their acid addition salts are prepared by reacting a 2-aminobenzophenone of the formula (II) <FORM:1116918/C2/2> with a diester of the formula (III) <FORM:1116918/C2/3> or a salt thereof, optionally followed by salt formation. The lower alkyl groups contain 1-7 carbon atoms. Compounds of the formula (I) and their salts are muscle relaxants, sedatives and anticonvulsants, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them together with a carrier.
