Abstract

1,116,712. Security systems. RADARGUARD SECURITY Ltd. 5 March, 1965 [5 Dec., 1963], No. 48119/63. Heading G4H. Actuation of an alarm at a protected location causes a radio transmitter to transmit the identity of the protected location to a monitoring station, the transmission comprising a carrier which is frequency modulated with a plurality of sub-carrier frequencies which are themselves amplitude modulated by a combination of identification tones, unique for that particular location. The monitoring station includes suitable filters and decoding matrices to provide a visual indication of the calling location by lighting an appropriate lamp. The carrier frequency and the frequency of the local oscillator at the monitoring station may be swept through a given frequency band at different rates as a precaution against jamming. The monitoring station also includes means for interrogating each protected location in groups of five, those locations in which the protection facilities are " on," e.g. after the staff have locked up, replying with the identity transmission and a test tone. The monitoring station has lamps to indicate that the location has responded to the interrogation. The protection facility " on " or " off response is compared with the setting of a corresponding switch on the control panel and an alarm is given if there is disagreement.
