Abstract

1,115,570. Medical headlamps. WELCH ALLYN Inc. 30 May, 1967 [21 July, 1966], No. 24878/67. Heading F4R. A lamp adapted to be worn on a head-band comprises a non-conducting base 11, a tubular inner housing 12, fixed at one end to the base and closed at the opposite end by a lens 16, a lampholder 26 adjacent the base and an irisdiaphragm 15 between the lamp 14 and the lens 16, the inner housing having an elliptically curved surface 35 behind the lamp, a partspherical surface 44 in front of the lamp and a frusto-conical reflecting surface 45 between the surface 44 and the diaphragm, the inner housing being enclosed in but spaced from an outer housing 13 fixed at one end to the base and surrounding the front of the inner housing, means being provided on the outer housing for operating the diaphragm. The base carries a projecting stud 18 having a ball-shaped end 19 to fit a socket in the head-band. The inner housing between the surface 45 and the diaphragm 15 is frusto-conical as is the part between the diaphragm and the lens. The inner housing is fitted with cooling fins 25 and the outer housing with ventilating slots 65.
