Abstract

<PICT:1115265/C6-C7/1> A plating rack comprises an electrically conducting elongated spine 11 which transfixes an electrically non-conducting and inert member 17 and at least one electrically conducting finger making electrical contact with said spine 11, said finger being caused to be resiliently urged against the spine 11 by abutment means 19. In the form shown the fingers 12a, 12b are U-shaped and formed of resilient wire, having an elbow 10 in each arm thereof. The part 13a is positioned as shown between the spine 11 and abutment means 19 and downward pressure applied to the extending fingers, which then engage the lugs 20 formed upon the member 17 to produce the required contact pressure between the finger and spine 11. Alternate arrangements for producing such contact pressure between the finger and the spine using resilient wire fingers appear in Figs. 3-8 (not shown). Contact pressure may also be provided using fingers of non-resilient material by positioning a compressible pad between the abutment part of the non-conductive member and the finger Figs. 11, 12 (not shown) or by pressing a resilient pad against the extending part of the fingers Figs. 9, 13, 14 (not shown). The prongs may be fitted with conductive barrels 23 for supporting a large number of hooks for articles to be plated, or may be riveted to a clamp 48 Fig. 11 (not shown) or to a permanent magnet 47 Figs. 9-12 (not shown).
