A control device for a gas burner has, in a housing, a gas valve (17), a transformer 13 and a microswitch 15 in the circuit thereof, a lever 5 in an aperture (4) in the housing; lid being operable from outside the housing to energize the ignition circuit and open the gas valve in a single operation as well as operate the stem 27 of the valve of a thermoelectric safety device, the housing being constructed to fit over the latter device.
