Abstract
1,114,410. Electrophotography. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 7 Oct., 1965 [9 Oct., 1964], No. 42599/65. Heading HIK. An electrophotographic plate comprises a layer of styrene-butadiene copolymer having zinc oxide dispersed therein and wherein both sides of the layer carry a layer of vinylchloridevinylacetate copolymer having zinc oxide dispersed therein. The styrene-butadiene copolymer comprises 60 to 80% styrene whilst the vinylchloride-vinylacetate copolymer comprises 70 to 95% vinylchloride. Specific sensitizing dyestuffs may be added. Details of the thickness of the various layers, the ratio of binder to zinc oxide and the preferred polymer compositions are given. The plate is made by coating successive polymeric layers on a cellulose acetate sheet in the form of a solution, and drying each layer at 90-95F. before coating the next layer. The cellulose acetate sheet is removed by soaking in water thus giving a self-supporting sheet having an extremely smooth surface where it was in contact with the cellulose acetate sheet.
