Abstract

1,113,962. Filing papers. ACME VISIBLE RECORDS Inc. 24 Aug., 1965 [10 Sept., 1964], No. 36389/65. Heading B6E. A rotary card file for desk-top use comprises a number of open-topped card trays 24 pivotallymounted at 28, 29 on discs 22, 23 keyed to a rotatable shaft 19, devices being provided to maintain the trays with their open sides horizontal as the discs are rotated. The discs may be rotated manually or by means of a motor coupled to the shaft 19. Brake means are provided to hold the discs in any position to which they have been turned. The file comprises two side frames 11, 12 adjustably connected at their bottom corners by crossmembers 13, 14. To the insides of the frames are attached brackets 17, 18 with flanges 17A, 18A in which are journalled the ends of the shaft 19. A spring 45 on the shaft 19 extends between the disc 23 and the flange 18A and serves as a brake to prevent unwanted rotation of the shaft. One of the pivots of each tray comprises a pin 28 fixed to the tray and journalled in the disc 22, the pin 28 also being fixed to a link 44 pivoted at its lower end to an annular member 36. The inner surface of the member 36 rides on two rollers 39 adjustably carried by the bracket 17 and so arranged that the axis of rotation of the member 36 is vertically below the shaft 19 and spaced therefrom a distance equal to the effective length of each link 44, thus causing the trays to be maintained always in horizontal position.
