A ferretic (less than 5% martensite) stainless steel has the following percentage composition: - Cr 10 - 14 C up to 0-1 Mn up to 1 N less than 0À05 Ti 0À2 - 1 A1 less than 1À5 Si 0À8 - 3 Fe the balance. The steel may be used for I. C. engine silencers and for cargo boxes.
