Abstract

Compounds of the formula <FORM:1112220/C2/1> where R is a group of the formula <FORM:1112220/C2/2> and <FORM:1112220/C2/3> R1 is H, R2 is H or halogen or R1 and R2 are NO2 and salts thereof are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula <FORM:1112220/C2/4> either with lactic acid nitrile at 60-18 DEG C. while removing the water formed by the reaction and if desired treating the product with an oxidizing agent, or with acetyl cyanide in acidic solution in the presence of a polar solvent. The invention also comprises compounds of the first formula above other than those wherein both R1 and R2 are H. Cis and trans forms of the compounds are described.ALSO:Insect control compositions comprise a compound of the formula <FORM:1112220/A5-A6/1> where R is a group of the formula <FORM:1112220/A5-A6/2> and <FORM:1112220/A5-A6/3> R1 is H and R2 is H or halogen or R1 and R2 are NO3 and/or salts thereof and a liquid or solid diluent or carrier.
