Abstract

1,110,215. Razor blade dispensers. M. D. MINCHIN. 6 Aug., 1965 [8 Aug., 1964; 19 Nov., 1964], Nos. 32386/64 and 47074/64. Heading B8P. A safety razor blade dispenser, preferably of plastics, comprises a tray 2, and a sheath 3 for the tray, the base 4 of the tray having spaced lugs 9, 10, and a central rib 18 free for vertical movement in a slot 14, the front wall 8 having its inner face formed as a ramp 19 leading up to an exit formation 20, which, in this case, is convex, and is formed with a recess 21, 22 at each end. The sheath has a front end wall 25 formed with rectangular recasses 26, 27 at its upper and lower edges respectively. The top cover 28 of the sheath has an opening 29 to allow entry of the thumb to expel blades 37, the front edge of the cover having a recess 31. At the underside of the front edge of the cover there is an exit formation 32, of concave form, having a recess 33, 34 at each end. The blades are positioned on the tray which is then pushed into the sheath, and retained by the engagement of catches 11, 12 in holes 35, 36 in the sheath. The blades are propelled forward by the thumb and abut the ramp 19, being longitudinally displaced relative to each other. Further pushing forces the top blade up the ramp, separating it from the next blade, the rib 18 being displaced downwardly. The front edge of the blade abuts the exit formations 20, 32 which are in contact centrally, and is curved transversely in convex manner, the pressure of the thumb causing the rest of the blade transversely in a concave manner, thus enhancing the separation of the blades. The rib 18 maintains the blade central, allowing its cutting edges to pass through recesses 21, 34 and 22, 33. Alternative exit formations are described, Figs. 13-18 (not shown). A lower compartment for used blades may be provided.
