Abstract

1,109,412. Securing reels on holders. WALKER (ENFIELD) Ltd. 26 Sept., 1966 [25 June, 1965], No. 27056/65. Heading F2U. A reel 10 is releasably secured on a shaft 14 by compressing chains 16 fast with the shaft so that alternate pins 21 of the chains move radially out to engage the reel core 9. Each chain 16 engages an axial slot 15 in a sleeve 12 which is axially positioned on the shaft 14 by screws 7. One end of each chain is pivoted to a block 17 secured to the sleeve 12 whilst the other end is pivoted to an axially slidable block 18 and alternate pins 21 of the chain are biased radially inwardly and outwardly by a spring strip 20. A nut 26 engaging a threaded part 25 of the sleeve 12 acts through thrust washers 24 on the blocks 18 to move the latter left or right and thus engage or disengage the coupling.
