Abstract

Fibrous webs, such as for non-woven fabrics, felt, or like material are formed in apparatus including a pinned swift surrounded by a casing 12 formed to provide an air inlet and a delivery duct for fibres. The web is collected on a foraminous drum or belt 22 to which suction is applied. The air inlet 18 has an adjustable valve to control the amount of air entering the casing. This valve may be eccentrically mounted, or be of normal butterfly type or of butterfly type but with the closure member divided into separately adjustable members.
