Abstract

1 - (2 - Quinolyl) - piperazine is prepared by reacting a 2-haloquinoline with piperazine, e.g. in toluene. Its salts, e.g. the maleate, are prepared by direct reaction with the acid.ALSO:Pharmaceutical compositions having oxytocic activity comprise 1-(2-quinolyl)-piperazine or a salt thereof, e.g. the maleate. They may be in conventional forms, e.g. a syrup, elixir, solid composition or injectable solution.
