The lifting frame P 1 , P 2 , CP 1 , CP 2 of a garage lift is provided with hydraulic rams A 1 -A 4 supporting a further lifting frame C 1 , C 2 , D 1 , D 2 adapted, on extension of the rams, to raise the vehicle wheels from the runways P 1 , P 2 . The ram cylinders are mounted on the further lifting frame and each is hydraulically connected to the cylinder of one of a group of four further rams, the piston rods of which are mechanically connected to the piston of a single ram, Fig. 2 (not, shown), whereby, when liquid is introduced under pressure into the cylinder of the single ram, liquid is displaced evenly into the cylinders of rams A 1 -A 2
