Abstract
1,106,918. Delivering sheets. SOCIETE INDUSTRIELLE BULL-GENERAL ELECTRIC. 7 April, 1966 [28 April, 1965], No. 15780/66. Heading B6H. In a card-piling receiver in which cards are delivered in a horizontal plane to fall one above the other, the card piling compartment comprises, an endless conveyer 102 stretched vertically between two rollers 103, 104 disposed outside the compartment so that one portion of the conveyer coincides with a wall of compartment, two hinged card-supports 101, 108 disposed at two opposite points along the conveyer, and driving means moving downwardly in a hinged out position, that support which is inside the compartment, and moving upwardly, in a hinged down position, that support which is -outside the compartment. The roller 103 is driven by an electric motor M mechanically coupled to an electromagnetic brake F which is automatically applied when the motor is switched off. The motor is controlled by contacts CC and card feeler 103 with contacts CP operated when the support ,is in half descent position, contacts CR, and a photo-electric control L, PH, which detects whether cards have reached the holding lugs 110, 110 at the lower end of the compartment. At the appropriate moment the lugs are tilted by a rod T to allow the cards to fall on an extracting device shown as an endless belt 114. In operation cards are delivered to the receiver by rollers 10, 20 or 30 and deflected into a required compartment. With no cards on a support 101 the contacts CC2 are closed so that relay B02 is energized. Contacts CBO2 of this relay are thus open and the motor M receives no operating voltage and the braking electromagnet BF is released so spring force applies the brake. The conveyer 102 is stationary until switch KD is operated which operates relays BO3 BO4. A consequence of this is relay BO2 is released and BO1 is energized. Motor M starts and brake BF energized to release the brake. Closure of CBO1 shorts the resistor R so the motor rotates at full speed. When the card support reaches contacts CP the motor is stopped and the brake applied. Cards continue to build up on the platform but when a feeler 107 is moved due to the height of the cards, contacts CC2 open and CC1 close. The brake is released and the motor M drives the conveyer 102 at a slow speed since contacts CBO2 are open and the resistance R is in series with the motor. Stopping and starting occurs as necessary. If cards arrive at a high rate the circuits arrange for the motor to drive the conveyer at full speed. Cards accumulated on the support 101 and stopped in the intermediate descent position may be lowered to the bottom of the compartment by depressing the switch KD.
