Abstract

1,105,937. Selvedges in woven fabric. SULZER BROS. Ltd.. 26 May, 1965 [19 June, 1964], No.22390/65. Heading D1E. In a loom in which cut ends of weft are tucked into the next shed, a warp thread 33 moves from the bottom shed line to the middle shed line whilst a hook 47 tucks in the weft end and then returns to the bottom shed line to grip the tucked-in end, thereby preventing it from springing out of the shed. The warp thread 33 always returns to the bottom, shed line; alternatively, it may always return to the top shed line, or to the top for a succession of picks and then to the bottom for a succession of picks; there may be two such warp threads, operating alike or one returning to the top shed line and the other to the bottom. As shown, healds 75. for the threads 33, one at each end of the loom and two in the middle (for centre selvedges) are operated by arms 73 on a shaft 71 rocked by a cam 67.
