Abstract
Corrosion of ferrous or copper surfaces is prevented by an aqueous alkaline solution comprising a water-soluble organic amine, a water-soluble organic acid, and an alkali metal nitrite. The solution may be used in paints, aerosol sprays, hydraulic systems, central heating systems, cutting oils, degreasing solutions or for impregnating paper. In an example, a solution contains (parts by weight): diethanolamine 13.7, monoethanolamine 2.7, benzoic acid 21.1, sodium nitrite 12.0, alkyl sulphate wetting agent 0.5, water 50. To prevent staining of copper an azimide may be added.ALSO:Corrosion of ferrous or copper surfaces is prevented by an aqueous alkaline solution comprising a water soluble organic amine, a water soluble organic acid, and an alkali metal nitrite.
