Abstract

[Also in Divisions H2 and H3] In a lift truck in which lift, tilt and reach movements of the load carriage are actuated either by hydraulic pressure derived from a pump operated by a D.C. electric motor or by screw and nut mechanisms driven by a D.C. electric motor, the motor is supplied with current which flows in pulses from a pulse control circuit, the speed of the motor being varied by varying the on-off ratio of the pulses. Levers controlling the auxiliary movements operate switches to vary the resistance in the pulse control circuit (see Divisions H2, H3), whereby the motor is caused to run at predetermined speeds appropriate for the selected movements. During lifting movements of the load carriage, the main series winding and the armature of the motor are energized directly and independently of the pulses.
