Abstract

110,385. Wilkinson, G. April 2, 1917. Steam-generator furnaces.-A water-tube steam boiler 52 and a vertical retort 48 are placed side by side, preferably in the same setting as shown, and heated by gases passing through separate ducts from a single furnace 55 into which the coke produced in the retort is discharged by gravity at a rate depending on the rate of combustion of the coke. The gas produced in the retort is, after purification, supplied to the furnace, into or above the fire. The hot gases from the furnace are passed through the retort, whereby the retort acts also as a producer. Baffles or deflectors are inserted in the flues. Specification 782/15 is referred-to.-
