Abstract

1,103,807. Tunnel ovens: air-conditioning. BAKER PERKINS Ltd. 14 Feb., 1967 [23 Feb., 1966], No. 7857/66 Heading A2A. To improve baking conditions in a tunnel oven having a baking chamber 1, which is divided, as by partitions 5, into longitudinally extending zones ... 2, 3 . . ., each zone is connected, through at least one suction port 8, to a suction header 6. Each zone is also in communication with the outer atmosphere through at least one air-inlet port 10, through which air is drawn into the zone to replace steam and spent heating air, which are withdrawn, through the port or ports 8, by a rotating fan 7, connected to the header 6. Each of the ports 8 and 10 may be provided with a slidable baffle or damper 9, operable from the outside of the oven. Products being baked are carried through the oven on a conveyer 4. A pair of air-inlet ports 10 may be located, in each zone, near each partition 5, and four suction ports 8 may be located between said pairs of air-inlet ports, so that indrawn air travels in a substantially longitudinal direction through each zone.
