Abstract

1,103,306. Electric immersion heaters. SIMPLEX ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 2 Feb., 1966 [20 Feb., 1965], No. 7437/65. Heading H5H. An immersion heater comprises a non- metallic tube containing a single coil of heating wire having an insulating coating, the turns of the coil being in contact with each other and with the tube. A silica or quartz tube 1, having a closed end 2 contains a coil of A1, Cr, Fe alloy wire 4 with an oxide coating. To mount the heater in a tank the tube is sealed by a rubber ring 12 in a member 6, threaded at 17, which can be screwed into the tank. The member also supports a sealed pocket containing an adjustable thermostat having a head assembly 22.
