Abstract

A pharmaceutical composition comprises 7-nitro-5-phenyl-1,3-dihydro-2H-1,4-benzodiazepin-2-one adsorbed on an acidic ion-exchange resin, e.g. a copolymer of styrene and 8% by wt. of divinyl benzene which is either sulphonated or carboxylated, or a polysaccharide (dextran) cross-linked wither with sulphoethyl groups orcarboxymethyl groups. The composition may be made by treating a solution of the above benzodiazepin-2-one compound in methylene chloride with the acidic ion-exchange resin and subsequently distilling off the solvent. The composition may also contain water, carboxymethyl cellulose, sodium benzoate, sodium saccharin, sodium citrate, sugar, and citric acid.
