In a pontoon comprising a plurality of sections joined one to the next by resilient couplings, each coupling comprises a block 8 of hard rubber or like material sandwiched between the vertical end faces 6 of adjacent sections or between the end face of one section and the vertical side face of an adjacent section, means (bolt 9 and nuts 11) being provided to hold each block 8 under compression.
