Abstract

1,099,494. Cathode ray tube mountings. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 21, 1965 [April 21, 1964], No. 16424/64. Heading H4T. [Also in Division G2] An optical component 10 (e.g. a television pick-up tube, an image intensifier or a projection cathode-ray display tube) is mounted on at least one set of tensioned struts 11 extending radially therefrom, each strut having means (e.g. threaded nipples 12) for adjusting its tension to enable the component to be accurately centred, means (e.g. screws mounted in a member on an annular member 2) being provided for axially moving the component by deflection of the struts. Component 10 may be used in an optical system comprising a spherical mirror (5) and a Schmidt corrector plate (7) which are bedded in strain free cushions of a silastomer having a cork-filler on members 1 and 3.
