Abstract

1,098,822. Speed governors; fluid-pressure servomotor systems. PETROL INJECTION Ltd. and H.E. Jackson. Feb.17, 1965 [Feb.25, 1964J, No. 7594/64. Headings G3B and G3P. [Also in Divisions F1 and F2] A cut-off valve 5, Fig. 1, incorporated in an internal-combustion engine fuel injection system as described in Specification 1,098,823 (Division F1) comprises a flat valve 5 which rests on a lower seat 3 when the engine is stopped to cut off the fuel. Upon starting of the engine, intake manifold suction through pipe 26 acts upon diaphragm 15 to lift the valve to an intermediate flow position in which it is held by a piston 21 raised by fuel pump pressure to operate locking balls 25 preventing return of the valve to its lower seat. At over-running the high intake manifold suction acting on diaphragm 25 forces valve 5 against its upper seat 4 to interrupt the fuel supply.
