Abstract

1,098,311. Piston packing. S. B. WESTON. Aug. 31, 1964 [June 12, 1963], No. 23321/63. Heading F2T. Piston packing comprises an 0-ring 9 of resilient material housed in a groove defined by axially opposed frustoconical surfaces 10 and 11 on the piston skirt 6 and a relatively axially movable plug part 7 respectively, the part 7 being axially urged towards the skirt 6 by a compression spring 12 whereby the 0-ring is pressed outwardly against the cylinder wall.
