Abstract

1,097,940. Aerials; inductive signalling. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. Aug. 17, 1966 [Oct. 9, 1965], No. 36819/66. Headings H4A and H4U. In a road vehicle an induction pick-up coil 6 is embedded in a plastics material tubular support 3 so that it surrounds coaxially a rodtype radio aerial 1 (which may be telescopic) and is located at the lower end of the said aerial, at least partly outside the vehicle body 5. The coil 6 is for receiving control or other signals transmitted from an induction loop laid along a motorway, said signals modulating a carrier having a frequency such as 70 kc./s. A slot 7 may be provided in the lower end of the aerial 1 to reduce eddy currents therein due to the induction field. One end of the coil 6 is connected to the vehicle body 5 and the other end is connected together with the rod aerial 1 to a common output lead 8, by means of a contact sleeve 9.
