Abstract
1,096,952. Milking installations; animal stalls. GASCOIGNES (READING) Ltd. (Gascoignes Italia S.p.A.). June 23, 1965 [March 24, 1964], No. 12502/64. Heading A1M. In a milking installation the milking stalls 13 are located on a platform 2 rotated by power means either intermittently or continuously in which case the speed of rotation is slow at least when cows are entering or leaving the stalls. The stalls 13 extend substantially radially of an annular platform, the cows entering the stalls by means of a movable bridge 19 and moving from the stall after milking to a stationary enclosure 18 located in the centre of the platform, under passes or overpasses being provided so that the cows may leave the enclosure 18. The stalls support a vacuum line, milk line and wash line and milk receiving vessels 76 for each stall, milk being discharged from the vessels through valve 80 into a common shoot and thence to a collecting vessel located within the working area 5 of the building 1. Chains 63 prevent cows from leaving the stalls the chains being fastened by quick release means. Each stall may be provided with a manger into which rationed feed is delivered and means for washing the teat cups are also provided. A scraper rotating with or independently of the platform is used to push dung into a collecting pit. The common milk collecting vessel may also be located outside the building 1.
