Abstract

1,096,414. Printing apparatus. DERITEND ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Aug. 20, 1965 [Nov. 28, 1964], No. 48448/64. Heading B6C. [Also in Division F2] In order to even out the pressure along the nip of a printing couple when the latter is in operation, both cylinders are pre-loaded so that the deflection exaggerately illustrated in Fig. 1 takes place. Such deflection is effected by mounting each end of each cylinder 10 or 11 in a pair of spaced bearings 16, 17 and then moving each bearing 16 in a plane normal to its cylinder axis through the rotation of associated eccentrics 22, 23. An Odham coupling 30 is associated with the driving gear 24, 25, 26, 28 and 29 in order to ensure a positive drive to the cylinder 11 whatever the relative cylinder positions. Adjustment of the couple nip is accomplished through mounting the bearings 16, 17 of the cylinder 11 in eccentric bushes 19, 20.
