[Also in Division F1] A power generating system comprises a boiling water reactor supplying steam to a pipe 5 from which branch pipes 6, 7 lead respectively to a turbine and a condenser. Flow through the branch pipes is controlled by valves 1, 2 mounted on a common spindle 3 and controlled by an actuator 4 such that when one valve is open the other is closed. The object of the invention is to avoid the sudden increase in steam pressure which may result from the action of a cut-off valve and cause a high power increase.
