Abstract

1,096,089. De-gassing. ST. REGIS PAPER CO. Oct. 7, 1966 [Oct. 7, 1965], No. 44828/66. Headings B1M and B1T. In an apparatus for the removal of dissolved gas from a liquid, the liquid enters tank 16 (Fig. 1) through perforated diffusing cylinder 61, rises up inside movable cylindrical partition 11, overflows the partition 11, and leaves via conduit 65. Float 58 opens gas escape valve 26 (Fig. 3, not shown) when gas collecting in the top of tank 16 forces the liquid below a certain level, and compressed air can be introduced through filter valve 25 (Fig. 2) when necessary, to maintain a free space at the top of tank 16. Portion 11 may have a bottom section that can be raised for cleaning purposes by pneumatic valve 70 (Fig. 4, not shown). If the liquid does not readily release the gas; the liquid may be sucked through the apparatus by a suction pump connected at outlet 65, and suction also applied at valve 26. Filter valve 25 (Fig. 2) comprises filter disc 34 perforated disc 33, and spring poppet valve 27 on the outlet side of valve 25.
