Abstract

Alkenynoxy silanes are prepared by reacting an organochlorosilane with an enyn alcohol, preferably in the presence of a nitrogen-containing organic base, between 60-70 DEG C. for 5-10 hours, using a molar ratio of reactants between 9:10 and 10:9, and a like molar ratio of organic base with respect to either reactant. The enyn alcohol is suitably tertiary and of formula <FORM:1096033/C3/1> where R1 is H or an organic group. The product may be obtained by separation and vacuum distillation. The organic base may be liberated for re-use by addition of an alkaline reacting material.
