An alloy contains 5-30% Zr and/or 15-30% Nb; 0-2% in total of one or more of Cr, Mo, Ni and Fe; 0-0.5% Si; 0-2% of Sn and/or Al, the total content of alloying elements not exceeding 30%; balance Hf and impurities.
