In a variable focal length objective as in Specification 967, 924, the back focal length is increased by providing, within the rear positive group D, a negative meniscus L XIII immediately behind the diaphragm and concave thereto, followed by three positive components L XIV - L XVIII of which two are formed as cemented doublets. Optical data are provided for the example shown.
