Abstract

1,095,331. Vehicle rear view mirrors. DESMO Ltd. May 15, 1964 [May 17, 1963], No. 19642/63. Heading B7J. [Also in Division G2] A vehicle rear view mirror comprises a mirror glass 3 and a casing 4 moulded from transparent plastics material such as methyl methacrylate polymer, the casing being coated on its interior surface with silvering 18 so as to present a bright appearance to the outside through the transparent plastics. The mirror glass 3 is retained in the casing 4 by a flexible ring 7 which is fitted around the periphery of the mirror and arranged to engage a groove in the rim of the casing. The silvering of both the mirror glass and the casing is protected by a coating 6 having a high metallic content. The casing is mounted on a vehicle by a bolt 11 having an enlarged head 12 located inside the casing 4 between a curved disc 15 and a flat disc 16, the discs 15, 16 being sealed to the interior surface of the casing 4.
